A fascinating 100-year old, painstakingly restored heritage Haveli in the Shekhavati region of Rajasthan with an eclectic blend of architectural styles – European pillared structure, art deco influences, Mughal-styled doors and arches – adorned with Shekhawati frescoes.
Located in the small, mofussil town of Churu, on the edge of the Thar desert, the Haveli is off the touristic beat. But its ‘Haveli district’ adjoining Malji Ka Kamra, with narrow streets and 30-odd Havelis that still stand, make for a fascinating walk. Churu has more havelis than its celebrated peer, Mandhawa. Malji Ka Kamra is the sole restored Haveli, converted into a hotel.
